The Soul of Warden Hawkran
The Whispering Way abducted the ghost of Warden Hawkran from Harrowstone prison, slaying Professor Lorrimor in the process.
In 4661, Harrowstone prison was destroyed in a terrible fire, resulting in the deaths of hundreds. The fire that caused the tragedy was, in fact, a blessing in disguise, for the prisoners had rioted and gained control of the prison’s dungeons immediately prior to the conf lagration. It was only through the self-sacrifice of Warden Hawkran and 23 of his guards that the prisoners were prevented from escaping—the guards gave their lives to save the town of Ravengro.
The spirits of five mass murderers—The Mosswater Marauder, Father Charlatan, The Piper of Illmarsh, The Lopper, and The Splatter Man—raged within the prison, hungry for revenge. The ghost of the Warden still patrolled the dungeons of the ruined prison, keeping the angry dead at bay.
When the Whispering Way abducted the Warden’s spirit, the ghost of the Warden’s wife, Versorianna, attempted to keep the murderers at bay. Her efforts were failing, and it was only through the heroics of the party that she was able to put four of the five spirits to rest for good. The Splatter Man, however, has proven able to reach through the veil on certain occasions, always to the party’s detriment.
Why the Whispering Way abducted the Warden’s spirit remains unknown, though it is clear they exerted a great deal of time, preparation, and potent ritual magic in order to accomplish the deed.
